I recently discovered that Strategic Vision, a polling company, has regularly been asking Republicans whether they see George W. Bush as being a conservative in the mode of Ronald Reagan. What is interesting is not just the extremely low percentage of Republican who see Bush as a Reagan-style conservative, but the fact that the percentages have fallen sharply in every state where the question has been asked.
Strategic Vision Poll
Asked only of Republicans: “Do you view
President Bush as a conservative in the mode
of Ronald Reagan?” (percent)
